One of my favorite birthday gifts from @jbrhodes00 - this one from about 10 years ago — and it’s hard to choose because he is the best gift giver ever — a set of cufflinks and studs he had made for me after sifting through many, many favrile beetles at @lilliannassau until he found the perfect group 🪲

The perfect Mia Goth wore a necklace from the @tiffanyandco archive made of these same glass beetles in @frankensteingdt - genius costume design by @katehawleycostume - a piece designed by Meta K. Overbeck under Louis Comfort Tiffany. Her sketch of the necklace is in the collection of the amazing @morsemuseum (definitely worth a visit)

Reflecting back on my visit to @syonparkofficial earlier this fall and the magic of these mirrored rondels Robert Adam installed in the Long Gallery. Some convex, some concave - all must have been a source of constant entertainment for guests (and a huge source of inspiration for John Soane). The smokey patina on top of Adam’s frothy pale pink and turquoise is especially evocative.

After 14 years (and a week to the day) I’m saying good-bye to @jaynedesignstudio
I am so grateful for all of the wonderful clients, artists, and crafts people I have gotten to know (& I’m lucky to count so many of you as friends).
There have been many adventures including countless visits to Charleston, Oyster Bay, & Dallas, time in Maine & Newport, margaritas in Miami & New Orleans, pools in Bozeman & Jamaica, & many, many hours learning the service elevators of the UES.

Balderbrae - such a special house that @jbrhodes00 & I were lucky enough to spend a number of long Summer weekends in. This special hallway is covered in beetles by @jennifershortotextiles & the curtains in the great room are based on a design I found at the @cooperhewitt

Narnia - as we grew to call it after I had the idea to buy an armoire to conceal a new entry between a bedroom & hall - a guest house, built in the 1990s but the decoration references the 1870s-90s. Fresh from my time in the UK with the @vicsocny & full of inspiration (the Voysey-esque grilles)

I have always loved spiderwebs - & what could have been a room covered in a damask stripe became the most special interior - not to mention the @christopherfarrcloth fabric on the walls of the bedroom.

A bedroom under a lighthouse - literally - & maybe the home I’ve been to the most aside from my own! With an entry vestibule covered in @adelphipaperhangings starfish

The Branford Horry House in Charleston, all thanks to the best & most wonderful @sarahjrose - this house was & continues to be such a joy to work on.

Last night at the @nationalartsclub with @theattinghamtrust for a special tour of the Samuel Tilden Mansion - the highlight for me was this incredible window by John Lafarge (an altered configuration of panels as it was originally a set of secondary doors at one of the entries). Classicism and Asiatic motifs jumbled together under garlands with a heavy dose of confetti glass - quite literally what could ever be better?

The Etruscan Room at Osterley Park - like the Great Hall at Syon, this was also a Classical renovation and redecoration of a Tudor home by Robert Adam (and almost across the street from one another)
This was the last in a cycle of rooms Adam designed for the Child family beginning in the 1760s and ending in the mid 1770s. This was to be a dressing room or sitting room for the adjoining State Bedroom, but was never fully completed.
Classical decoration in orange and black like this is something I have always been obsessed with - there’s something always shocking and bold about it. After seeing a vignette of it through the enfilade of doors from the Drawing Room, it took everything not to run straight to it.
